Sansad Ratna Awards 2026: Grand Presentation Ceremony Honours 10 MPs, 4 Committees & Inaugural Jan Seva Puraskar

The centrepiece of the 16th Edition of the Sansad Ratna Awards 2026, held on the evening of 9th September 2026 at Bhim Hall, Dr Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi, was the grand presentation ceremony. Instituted by the Prime Point Foundation on the suggestion of Bharat Ratna Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, these prestigious civil society honours recognise exemplary performance, dedication, and accountability in India's Parliament.

Evaluation Period & Selection Criteria

The awards for the individual Members of Parliament and Departmentally Related Parliamentary Standing Committees were based on their comprehensive performance from the first sitting of the 18th Lok Sabha until the conclusion of Part 2 of the Budget Session 2026. Nominations were evaluated through a multi-tier screening process relying on official data from the Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha, and PRS Legislative Research, followed by final scrutiny and approval by an eminent jury chaired by Shri Hansraj G. Ahir and co-chaired by Dr Bhartruhari Mahtab, MP.

In this edition, awards were presented in person to 8 Lok Sabha MPs, 2 Rajya Sabha MPs, and 4 Parliamentary Standing Committees. Furthermore, marking a historic expansion, the Foundation introduced the inaugural Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Jan Seva Puraskar for outstanding public service institutions.

Inaugural Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Jan Seva Puraskar

Instituted this year to honour institutions and statutory bodies demonstrating exemplary service and protection of citizen rights, the inaugural Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Jan Seva Puraskar was conferred upon the National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC). The prestigious award was received in person by Shri Kishor Makwana, Hon’ble Chairman of NCSC, accompanied by members and senior officials of the Commission.
